History

Our story from then to now:

1986,Jubilee Housing Inc was established by Box Hill and NewHope (formerly Blackburn North) Baptist Churches as an incorporated association to manage properties on behalf of the founding organisations. Land was purchased in Box Hill North; the Victorian Department of Human Services (Director of Housing) provided construction funding.

1987,Jubilee Place located in Box Hill North was opened in November 1987 with 10 units of accommodation for families and singles.

1997,Following the purchase of land in Burwood the Figtree Lane complex was opened in November 1997 with 10 units of accommodation for singles and families. The Victorian Department of Human Services (Director of Housing) provided Construction funding.

2003,The Constitution was changed to enable other organisations or churches to participate. Representatives from Emmaus Christian Community Ltd. (associated with South Croydon Anglican Church) joined the Committee of Management.

2004,Emmaus located in Bayswater North was completed with 19 units of accommodation for families and singles. The Department of Human Services provided construction funding. Contributions were also made by Jubilee Housing Inc and Emmaus Christian Community Ltd. The land had been purchased in 1981 by Emmaus Christian Community Ltd for community use.

2011,Land in East Ringwood was purchased by Jubilee Housing Inc with a view to future development of the site. In the interim the house on the land is rented out on the same basis as other properties.
